As National Chocolate Chip Day approaches on May 15th, it's the perfect time to indulge in some homemade treats that celebrate this beloved ingredient. One of my favorite recipes for this occasion is Chocolate Chip Cookie Bars. Not only are they delicious and easy to make, but they also evoke a sense of nostalgia and comfort that is perfect for sharing with loved ones. In this blog post, I'll share my go-to recipe for Chocolate Chip Cookie Bars and discuss how flea market finds can add a unique touch to your baking adventures.


Ingredients:


2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon baking soda

1 teaspoon salt

1 cup unsalted butter, softened

3/4 cup granulated sugar

3/4 cup packed light brown sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

2 large eggs

2 cups semisweet chocolate chips

Instructions:


Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13-inch baking pan and line it with parchment paper, leaving some overhang on the sides for easy removal.


In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.


In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and vanilla extract until light and fluffy.


Beat in the eggs, one at a time, until well combined.


Gradually add the flour mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.


Fold in the chocolate chips until evenly distributed throughout the dough.


Spread the cookie dough evenly into the prepared baking pan, using a spatula to smooth the top.


Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean or with a few moist crumbs.


Remove the pan from the oven and allow the cookie bars to cool completely in the pan on a wire rack.


Once cooled, use the parchment paper overhang to lift the cookie bars out of the pan. Transfer to a cutting board and slice into squares or rectangles.
