June 12th is a day for peanut butter lovers to rejoice as we celebrate National Peanut Butter Cookie Day! What better way to honor this delicious day than by baking a batch of classic Peanut Butter Blossoms? These delightful cookies, with their perfect combination of soft peanut butter dough and a chocolate kiss on top, are sure to bring smiles to faces young and old.

Peanut Butter Blossoms

Ingredients:

1/2 cup granulated sugar

1/2 cup packed brown sugar

1/2 cup creamy peanut butter

1/2 cup butter, softened

1 egg

1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

3/4 teaspoon baking soda

1/2 teaspoon baking powder

1/4 teaspoon salt

Additional granulated sugar for rolling

About 36 milk chocolate kisses, unwrapped

Instructions:

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

In a large bowl, beat the granulated sugar, brown sugar, peanut butter, butter, and egg until smooth.

Stir in the flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt until well mixed.

Shape the dough into 1-inch balls and roll each in granulated sugar.

Place on ungreased cookie sheets about 2 inches apart.

Bake 8-10 minutes or until the edges are light golden brown.

Immediately press a chocolate kiss into the center of each cookie; the cookie will crack around the edges.

Remove from the cookie sheets to a cooling rack and let cool completely.
